The drum is steady, the drum is faithful. The drum is with you through good times and the bad; through thick and thin. The drum blesses you with timely gifts when you practice regularly and the drum will show you parts of yourself you didn’t know. The drum will make you a better person. I might be going overboard with my love for the drum but I hope you all get the analogy I am trying to make. The drum is like the partner you know you want to be with for the rest of your life. This is the perfect way to celebrate the coming together of two people and families. A Taal Inc drum wedding. Let’s add rhythm to your big wedding celebrations through a wedding drum circle.
Some of the best drum circles we’ve led have been for weddings. The energy is palpable. There’s love, there’s competition, there’s high energy and in the end there is strength and beauty in unity; in drumming together. The drumming activity brings the families together regardless of their age, allegiance to the Ladki or Ladke walle or even their level of musicianship. We’ve seen competitiveness close to the ‘Joota Chori’ level during our drum circle games.
Some groups are apprehensive to drum when they are all dressed up. This is true. It can be a bit tricky to handle the drums with that heavy dress and all those precious accessories on. But, in the heat of the moment the group finds a way. Some groups plan better and schedule the big drum circle at a time when all can attend and also dress accordingly in loose and comfortable clothing. Yes, you heard me right. Gradually, the bride and groom (and the families) are prioritizing quality of time spent together over the number of guests invited or the general ‘shoo shaa’ we associate with normal flashy and large weddings (better known as big-fat-Indian-wedings!)
We have nothing against either type of wedding. One method just helps us take away the most from what the wedding drum circle has to offer: bonding for both the families; a way to truly get to know one another; spread joy and non-judgement; and most importantly: shower the couple to be with all the blessings that only a present and loving tribe can do. Here’s when we would have taken a recreational group drumming activity and connected it to the origins of culturally specific drumming traditions. It is no wonder that an important life phenomenon was accompanied by drum circles. It was and remains to be the best way to bring a group of people to the here and now. Imagine how powerful a genuinely present group of people sending positive affirmations or energy to a couple can be… Beautiful.
Do get in touch with us to add rhythmic drumming activities to your weddings. We are ready and waiting.
